Feature 2

Mission Clarity

The primary challenge we faced was that the company's mission wasn't clear enough. We used imagery and a service journey timeline to ensure users knew exactly what the company offered.

Accesibility

There was a need for compatibility with both laptop and mobile dimensions. Since functions such as hover and pop-ups aren't user-friendly on mobile, I clarified features to ensure user adaptability.

Understanding the Challenges

When I first looked over the website, I couldn't understand what the mission of the company was. It was vague and didn't have the information for me to understand what I, as a user, would get as a service. Through a SWOT analysis, I identified key areas where improvement is needed and the opportunities that we could move forward with.

I then looked at other mentorship websites aimed at healthcare careers and focused on 3 competitors. With all 3 websites, the lack of visual appeal really stood out. Either there were too many words, or there wasn't enough to seem like a reliable company. However, there were some key areas where some of the websites excelled.

After compiling the key learnings and opportunities, we determined that RennelCo would really benefit from having a section that explains the program from start to finish, and utilizing animations or visual elements for the user to interact with. These are features that would help the website from looking too static or bland.

At this point, I compiled a list of ideas and layout changes that would benefit the website. The most important being a service journey section.

1) Encouraging Interactions

Instead of large blocks of text, we opted for interactive features on the website, where users can find out more about a service when hovering over a section.

2) Using Organic Imagery and Colours

Since this is a very feminine and strong company, I chose imagery that was elegant and refined. Showing a predominantly feminine style also tells the company's story without being too obvious.

Results and Takeaways

This 5-month project was a real test of my front-end technical capabilities. I had never used WIX before, so after going through the features they provide, I had to redesign the landing page with limited knowledge to start. I was excited, though, since this was my first time in front-end development, in a professional setting, and I got to understand how important knowledge of front-end development is for a UX designer. Without this knowledge, it would be very hard for me to know what exactly is possible and how I could develop it. This project, in turn, has helped me broaden my understanding of what front-end development can look like and consequently helped me be more mindful of my prototypes in the future.
